Team strengths workshops
Helping teams understand and use their unique strengths

It’s amazing to see people reach a place where they understand each other better. It might be someone they work with every day, but you can see them suddenly see each other in a different light – like a penny drop.

Why did you need a facilitator?

Our organisation has undergone a lot of growth in a short time and operates in a fast-changing environment. We needed to look at our whole organisation and invest in our people so that we could work together on the best way to tackle things. We needed help to take the next steps.

Our focus is on team strengths. With Jo, we’re running workshops to introduce strengths to all teams one by one, including the senior leadership team. In fact, we started with SLT so that they could understand what we were doing and why. Getting their buy-in and understanding at the get-go was crucial.

The purpose is for people to understand themselves better, the strengths of the team as a whole and what they do in the organization.

It’s also great for people to better understand their co-workers. i.e. how they tick. If you understand how someone communicates or wants to be communicated with it helps so much. All this flows into a better understanding of the team’s strengths and where they fit in in the big picture.

How did Jo help?

Jo is a good fit for the organization with her experience and background overall, but it’s mainly her personality. She can talk to anyone. Working with Jo is always amazing and it’s all about her energy!

Jo expertly applies strengths with our people and our organization. She works hard with me and the SLT ahead of time, so she understands the individual team and common themes that arise in people’s work life here. She looks, for example, if they are a new team or if they have worked together a long time, do they want to focus on communication or is it more about collaboration and so on. She makes the whole process feel like it has a team specific approach every time.

That way she can be flexible with the content and it’s always relevant to the team. There are always some people who aren’t too keen on workshops and this kind of engagement, but she engages everyone so well and always ends up bringing everyone along. Jo is fun, flexible, and adaptable. She has a lovely manner and doesn’t get frazzled.

What was the impact?

I think that this has helped us cope with the change we’re facing. For me, this process has exceeded my expectations.

Jo has worked with essentially everyone in the organization. This is helping us develop a kind of ‘rules of engagement’ or set of principles on how we work together, to bring out the best in each other and be successful. Teams have a better understanding of how to talk to each other, other people in the wider organization and their clients.

It’s amazing to see people reach a place where they understand each other better. It might be someone they work with every day, but you can see them suddenly see each other in a different light – like a penny drop. Ah hah, now I see why you do this/or behave this way.
