Fostering alignment and collaboration

From our last workshop, I’ve seen a difference in the team which is so nice. I think that is the result of Jo’s approach and the environment that she has created allowing buy-in from the team.

Why did you need a facilitator?

We are a medium sized organisation with a mix of new and experienced senior leaders. We felt we needed expert knowledge on how to connect with each other and take the team out of the daily work activities to allow this to happen.

Our leadership days are important to us as a way to connect. It is about getting our senior leadership team together in the same space, and giving us a chance to talk properly. Having a facilitator allows us to get away from our desks and come together in a structured way with time specifically designated and with no distraction from our usual busy work days.

The content has varied between the sessions, but the overall focus has been to help foster deeper connection, alignment and collaboration across the leadership team.  The focus has included aligning risk appetite, understanding each team’s challenges, identifying how we can work better together, and thinking about how we can engage the next tiers of leaders.

How did Jo help?

Jo is amazing. She creates a warm, comfortable environment, but she knows her stuff. She allows the conversation to flow when it needs to but always has a structured, well-planned approach underlying everything she does.

I had worked with Jo in the past and when we were going through a time of change in the organisation and I knew we could use some outside help, she was the first person I thought of.

What was the impact?

A key goal for us is to create a safe space to have conversations – not just conversations but also some uncomfortable conversations. There has been a real noticeable growth within the team already by having these sessions with Jo. She has enabled us to have the tools to have these conversations.

Some of the team were hesitant about going into a facilitated workshop however Jo has the ability to break those heistations down right from the start and I have seen these team members go from real wariness to being totally on board and invested in the process and journey that we are on. I love it. At the end of each session, I can see the team really embracing this and this reinforces the passion that I have on investing in a good facilitator.
